Overcoming Fears 💕
My biggest fear has always been public speaking. When I was 8, my classmates would laugh at me for knowing my lessons too well and reciting them as fast as the bullet train from Japan. I was also afraid of being severely humiliated for doing my best in front of people and not being able to control my image if photos were taken of me. These fears were closely tied to my pursuit of “ my perception of perfection.” 😌
When I decided to organize this Art Show, I realized it would be a great opportunity to train myself and eventually overcome these fears. I have been working hard on building my self-confidence and self-worth in the past few months, and it was time to assess my progress 🌈
I also acknowledged that no matter what I do, there will always be external criticism and negative thoughts that can impact my self-perception. I understood that judgment and the negative mirror effect are inevitable, for some people witnessing progress in someone else’s life 😔
To address these fears and challenges, I developed a 5-step protocol. I made a promise to myself to focus on each small step, allowing myself to grow and appreciate every moment of the journey that leads me to discover freedom ☺️
Here are the 5-steps I am talking to you about:
💜 Identify Your Fear: Begin by recognizing and acknowledging the specific fear or fears that you want to overcome. Be specific about what triggers your fear and how it affects your life.
💜 Educate Yourself: Gain knowledge about your fear. Understand its origins, common causes, and common misconceptions. This knowledge will help you demystify your fear and develop a more rational perspective.
💜 Gradual Exposure: Gradually expose yourself to the source of your fear in a controlled manner. Start with small, manageable steps and gradually increase the level of exposure over time. This process, known as systematic desensitization, allows you to build resilience and confidence.
💜 Challenge Negative Thoughts: Identify and challenge the negative thoughts and beliefs that contribute to your fear. Replace them with positive and rational thoughts. Practice reframing your perspective and focusing on realistic outcomes. Everything is possible instead of « nothing is impossible » was a starting point for me.
💜 Seek Support: Surround yourself with a supportive network of friends, family, or professionals who can provide encouragement, guidance, and assistance as you work through your fears.
Remember, overcoming fears is a gradual process that requires patience, dedication and persistence. Celebrate small victories along the way and be kind to yourself throughout the journey ✨
My biggest success presenting this Dancing Goddesses collection was overcoming these fears, embodying the powerful feminine energy that inspired me all the way 💕
A huge thanks to the people I worked with who gave me so much strength, inspiration, support, love and help 🙏🏼
